About Jeanette
25 Years of Making Visions Real
Jeanette Villafane's path has never been conventional, and that has always been the point. Raised in Queens, she grew up in a place where cultures, languages, and ambitions mixed every day, and that environment shaped both her perspective and her drive. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she learned early how to move between worlds, build trust, and make people feel seen. That same instinct has guided her career ever since, whether she was supporting artists, advising organizations, or creating space for communities to thrive. At the core of it all is a deep belief that vision only matters when it can be carried into action.
The Foundation
She co-founded La Santa Luz Dance Company in the Bronx while working full time at Grey GCI Group leading multicultural PR campaigns for major consumer brands, and running artist management alongside it all. At Grey, she helped shape campaigns for well-known household brands, navigating fast-moving timelines, multiple stakeholders, and the kind of national visibility that demands both precision and adaptability. She was never a dancer. She believed in the artists and what they were trying to build, and that belief made her figure out everything else.
Co-founding La Santa Luz meant more than supporting performances. It meant building rehearsal schedules, coordinating venues, writing grants, managing budgets, securing resources, and creating the infrastructure that allowed the work to actually happen. It also meant showing up for the community the company served, using dance as a way to connect people, expand access, and make cultural expression feel alive and shared. Productions, budgets, contracts, vendors, touring logistics, international runs to Beijing and Istanbul, she did all of it while earning her degree and never stopped.
Those international runs added another layer of discipline and perspective. In Beijing and Istanbul, she was helping move creative work across borders, adapting to different cultures, calendars, and production realities while keeping the artistic standard intact. The logistics were complex, but the impact was simple: she helped make ambitious work travel, resonate, and land with audiences far beyond the Bronx.
The Throughline
That capacity to hold creative vision and operational execution at the same time has defined everything since. It is rare because most people are strong on one side or the other: they can imagine the possibility, or they can organize the path to get there, but not always both. Jeanette does both with equal care, which means ideas do not stay abstract for long. She brings that same grounded creativity to every room she enters.
For the people she works with, that combination creates confidence. Artists feel understood, organizations feel supported, and communities feel that their needs are being met with both heart and structure. She holds a B.A. in Communications, Media and Film from the City College of New York.
